Hey, guys - Hubby & I are donating a wood stove to the GTG on March 13th. The problem is how to get it up there. We are in the Milwaukee area. Is anyone coming through Milwaukee & hauling a trailer up? The stove weighs 375 lbs. so we also need some muscle to get 'er loaded.

Sorry dear, the back of my truck is usually full of long bars, powerheads, and the csm mill framework. Lucky to have room for gas cans.

wkchuck: Too high to lift anywho - unless we can get the Green Bay Packers here to lift 'er. :)

Maybe, if we took the top off & bricks out, we could drop the weight to around the 290#'s.

The whole of your streets residents combined would be hard pressed to lift that much weight.

Even rigging a block and tackle to your best tree wouldn't do the job.
Sailors of old could pull it off, but not us modern day yokels.

Heh, heh, heh. One of our sons lifted it off the trailer for us.

He is the good son - he ate all his veggies that Mom gave him as a kid.

How about letting the lucky recipient pay for truck shipping from your place to their's? Freightquote.com has some pretty good prices. It works out to be cheapest if you can drop it off on a pallet at a trucking terminal nearby to you and they can pick it up on their end at a trucking terminal. Saves waiting around for a truck to show up and then having to lift it off the truck. Just go to the terminal and they will fork it right onto their truck or trailer so they can haul it home.
