I recently picked up an older model Poulan chainsaw model 305 for cheap/ Have replaced piston, rings, new carb kit, and am replacing fuel lines and filter. My question is about the impulse line. It runs under the carb into the crankcase, I am trying to figure out how to remove it. Do I just pull this line out from under the carb? I don't understand what holds this line in place. It appears to just be pushed into a round channel cast into the crankcase. Is there a fitting inside the crankcase that this line connects to or is the line just pushed into this channel and held in place by compression.
Do I have to open up the crankcase to replace this line.......

Thanks

Mike

Looked at the blowup, it goes onto an impulse fitting, which is likely barbed.

How did you replace the piston and rings without being able to replace the impulse line, which seems to be bulk fuel line.??
