Having run mostly Shindaiwa saws I don't have any real knowledge of how they compare side by side with the other saws. I can say they have proven to be pretty darned reliable for a guy just wanting to cut some firewood.
I know you have access to dyno results on the 488 that state the 488 is over rated by the manufacturer.
Do you have any info on their other saws? The smaller saws (360 & 377) seem to be peppy little saws and I'm also curious about their larger saws
