sick maple tree ( still after 1 year )

well.....last year I did something rather nasty to my maple tree, I was using a granular herbicide called "2 plus 2" which contains Diuron & Bomacil. I was using this to kill some weeds around the tree, when I noticed that it was killing off leaves on the tree several weeks after the application. I was very worried that I destroyed this tree, to my amazment the tree had shown signs of life the next spring but now with the new growth I was happy that the tree made it through this period. Now I have noticed that the tree did not fill out with leaves like it has in the past years also the new growth is starting to turn brown and leaves are dropping off. This tree is very sick! Is there anything I can do now almost a year later to bring this tree back to life? Or is this a lost cause? Any words of wisdom to pass on?
