I recently brought a MS 211 with 18 inch bar. I think it’s a bit to much for it can I just slap a 14 or 16inch on it or would I need to change sprocket?

It's pretty worn tho

You are right about it bogging with the 18" bar, the 211 should have come with a 16" bar. I'm guessing Stihl was competing with some of the other 35cc saws from the big box stores that have an 18" or 20" bar. You can get more power going with the 6T sprocket. Stihl part #1123 640 2073. You can also gain power with the shorter bars like you mentioned. The 14" bar is #3005 000 4809 and takes 50 links of the 3/8P .050 chain. The 16" bar is #3005 008 4813 (or 3005 000 4813) and takes 55 links of the same chain. You will notice more power and less bog.

I recommend the 16" over the 14" as it has a little extra reach, the MS 211 can handle it, and the chain stays sharp a little longer (but takes more time to sharpen...)
