I am trying to remove the carb from a Stihl 017 chainsaw. I have removed the nuts and throttle and choke linkage and fuel line connection. I cannot get carb off because it hits the choke contol lever shaft. It looks like the shaft may snap out, but i am afraid to try because it is all plastic. Would appreciate advice.

Just pop it out of the thing that holds it on the left side and slide it out of the right side. You can get it with your finger. It won't break.

Remove the choke lever. Make sure the tab for the kill switch is out of the way. I think if you have the lever in the off position, all the way up, it makes it easier to come off.

lets remember the 017 is a homeowner saw qualiy is not comparable to the pro saws
