That's a really good deal. Good performing, tough, long lasting saws with a little extra care servicing the air filter routinely . People scarf the 028 supers up pretty quick around here.
I have one of these too. Just needs some crank seals tossed at it yo be a runner again.

First I want to say I agree the 028 is a good saw. About 5-6 years ago a local state park brought all their saws in to the Stihl dealer to trade off. In the mix of trade ins were a couple 028's and Poulan Pro 505, (Jonsered 2083), some smaller Poulansd and a few more Stihls I think. In any event I took them all. While I was away my son sold the 028's (well actually gave them away). I wish I had those back.

Now I know this will sound like a tall tale but it is 100% true. My grandparents were of a very unique type. My grandfather saw no need for modern convivences. I believe they did not get electricity until the late 60's early 70's. Grandpa did not see the need for indoor plumbing or gas heat. As a kid it was a bit unnerving visiting and going down to the "toliet" . that old outhouse stunk like no other. Grandpa died in 1992 and it was not until later that they got a indoor toliet. When my wife and I were first dating I had to caution here when we went to visit.. Now what does this have to do with a 028 you wonder . Well they also heated 100% with wood with a old wood cookstove/oven in the kitchen and a funky upright in the front room. They cut all their wood with a David Bradley gear drive and "split" it with a huge sliding table saw. Finally as grandpa got to where he could not get around as much he let the "boys" my uncles go into town and get a new saw. Of course it was a 028. Boy grandpa had changed his tune a bit after seeing how it ran compared to the old David Bradley. I often wonder what became of both those saws.

Anyway the 028 is a good saw and that is a fair price. Someone should buy that up right quick

I could be wrong, but i believe it breach well over $200 on eBay.
Yes it could "breach" well over $200, but let's not forget the cut Fleabay wants as well as a record of transaction for tax purposes. I believe Mr. Scandy14 is just trying to offer a super 👌 reliable saw to a member who would appreciate a good firewood saw. I've had two of these saws and I gave them both away to good friends who needed a solid saw. Fleabay is for money hungry soul looking to squeeze the most pennies outta an unknowingly person. Some deals are square (very few), most are sadly one sided. If I could justify purchasing this saw I would in a heartbeat. But I can't with two 026's. Sadly it would just sit or be given to a friend again. And truth be told...... I NEED that $160 for gas as of lately. Have you seen them prices!

I am not telling him to sell it on ebay, just saying it's a deal at $160. 🤐

Thats pretty neat and that blows that yours were given away like that. I got mine and a 180c basket case for 50 bucks off craigslist had the 180c back together and running within an hour and after ditching the old points setup had a running 028 but quickly found that the crank seals were sucking air. I'm actually looking for a set right now and ill probably do a cylinder and piston kit since mine is not a super. The kits are less than $50. Can't beat it. I also need the air filter and cover then she'll be g2g. Not a bad looking saw for its age.
