Any ideas? Its spitting unburnt fuel out of the carb and exhaust and dies at idle and ive tried leaning out the jets to the point where they were less than one full turn and it still wouldnt run right...

Have you checked the fuel filter, fuel lines and the vent tube? I had a carb that the brass fuel fitting was loose in the carb body once that leaned out the engine to the point it wouldn't idle at all.

Metering lever height?

+1 for me here also. Is it possible that you flooded it at the start (not trying to insult your intelligence). If the metering lever height is not set right it will flood the saw like crazy. (perhaps I missed this element also -- did you clean/rebuild the carb?)

Did you just take the carb apart and then this happened or what?

ok so heres the deal.

After somebody mentioned the metering lever i thought that was a good idea and a probable source of my issue so i took the carb out and VIOLA, the plunger needle under the metering lever was stuck in the hole, causing too much fuel to flow into the motor.

Im thinking that the 80 grit glass bead abrasive blasting media thats all over my garage from sandblasting must have just got in the carb body.

Anyhow, i just blasted out the carb with starting fluid and gave it another pull. It would run for a few seconds and then jamb up again.

Finally I gave up on the new plunger needle and put the old one back in and the thing seemed to want to run and idle more smoothly.

Only problem is that it will surge about every other minute. I will have it idling nice and smooth and then it will surge and the chain will spin for a minute and then it will die down again. This will happen off and on until the engine finally completely dies.

Im thinking that i need to tear down and check the carb one more time.

Before you tear anything else down, why not take a few minutes and clean up that glass bead blasting media? . You're just begging for more contamination if you leave that stuff where it can get into things.

Sometimes it pays off to take a little extra time, think things through, and save yourself some future grief.

Or not...your choice entirely.
