Here's very nice saw to work on for us. Every piece has been cleaned and the case parts are freshly powder coated.

We got a fair bit done today. I would imagine it will run tomorrow.

When we stopped today we didn't have spark. :(

I'm hoping to be able to use the electric ignition but have a points setup just in case. :msp_thumbsup:

Bout the same. It's been a nasty week moisture-wise. Boy the temp sure dropped quick late this afternoon. Some bitter winds blew in coupled with the rain. I got the wood stove cooking- feels like summer time in the house. It's a good time to catch up on some reading :)

is this one just a stock rebuild or ya tweaking any? from the pics, looks like it will be a beauty.

Thats looking very cool Randy :hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

I can't wait to see this saw running

Hope you have some big wood for this thing to get hold of

keep these photos coming :msp_smile::msp_smile::msp_smile:

No tweaking at all. This one goes back all stock.

I'll be posting more tomorrow on it Mike. Fine job on the powder BTW.

I'll be tearing the P-50 down ASAP.

Thanks Randy its looking good

we'll get a great match on the powder for ya

you wouldnt believe it i just got a brand new OEM 48mm piston for the super i geuss its a extra now !

you can never have to many parts

This CAD is getting bad

ebay is not my friend !!!!!!

Mike told me you were rebuilding this! Man, I didn't expect the powder coating to look that good!!

This should be a very good saw once it's all gone through. Seems like ditching the points would be the way to go, but I know there are some purists who might argue against that.

Thanks Dano on the good remarks on the powder coating

I did all the cabinet blasting and Phosfating my brothers worker did the tape off and screw hole pluggin and powdering

and clear coating

When i picked them up they where still a little warm from being baked in his 25'x8'x8'(HUGE) oven for 20min at 475*

Origanally the saw has Electronic igntion its a 041aveqs

I got the points set up in case the electronic went out in the future

Randy can say why it did have spark! :hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange::hmm3grin2orange:

the Stihl orange will be done when i get the saw back

A 24 inch bar and chain will be on it for the big stuff we get into cutting fire wood

we have been using Stihl 032 (4) I've had my 032 since 1981 and its never been aprt except to clean points still going

strong

I got a reg. 041 avqs (points ) 20in

a stihl 017 working on too

ok do i quit on the saws or is it hopeless ?

I'll tell the tale on the non-sparking electronic ignition.

My son-in-law Jon put this saw together...he does most all assembly and tear down as I stay pretty busy grinding, and talking on the phone and stuff and all.

He put the points flywheel on instead of the electronic one. :hmm3grin2orange:

We build a lot of saws from the crank up and split several cases a week. This saw was so pretty that he was a little nervous when it came time to heat the case halves. He said "Are you sure the paint won't melt?"

After a bit though he just relaxed and carried on. It turned out very nice.

I'll get some pics up when I get out of the shop.

Oh.....Mike, the carb kit I had was the wrong one....I'll order a tilly kit. The diaphragm is too stiff in this one and it flooded out before it ran. So, no video today. :D
