Sence you asked for a Sthil saw I will answer you with a Sthil.
Cutting in a wood is hard on a saw because your saw is running longer or faster in between the cuts. I have used a 029 for years with out a problem.
Works good cuts slow.
A 361 is a good all around saw, light weight, good power band cuts alright
doing 12 inch and under cut fast. larger 12 up inch seems to me its has more power to be had.
Now cutting in a wood pile the advantage is you are not moving all over the woods so I like a saw with more grunt because i don't want the job to last any longer then I can stand. Go for the 440 the weight helps you are not going to be there all day and has plenty of power.
There are other brands I prefer but then again you asked for a Sthil.
