I have an old Stihl 028 AV Super Wood Boss. Purchased new in the mid 80's. It only runs for a few minutes and then acts like it has run out of fuel. If I open and close the fuel cap it starts right back up again. I suspect the fuel vent is to blame. Took a close look at it today and saw a metal fitting screwed into the end of the flexible hose. What is that fitting all about? It is required? Also, does anybody know the proper size hose to use as a replacement? The old one fell apart as soon as I touched it.
