stihl ms 170 muffler mod?

probably a VERY stupid uneducated question BUT, as the ms 170 does NOT have high, low adjustment screws modifying the muffler would not be advised right.... since theres no hi low screws the saw would run like crap even though its a "self adjusting" carb i could get around this by swapping the carb and modifying the case to accommodate the new hi low screws but i would prefer not to. thanks for any info you have.

The walbro wt-215 is an easy swap. The other option is to ream out the main jet on the stock carb a bit.

So then that's a no dont do the mod unless I want to swap the carb
