Hi,

I have seen some posts from 2020 that Stihl was bringing out an adjustable carb version of the 661, anyone have one? I know some have modified the m-tronic version back to carb, but that’s not what I’m referring to here.

My local dealer can’t find any info on them here in Australia.

Thanks all.

The traditional carb 661’s a hard to find, but if you’re in the market for a 661, it’s definitely the way to go. I personally think the 661cm (m-tronic) runs on the lean side, and I like to run these bigger saws on the rich side, especially when using the saw for any type of milling. The performance is awesome BTW.

Oldish post but did anyone see one in Australia? I'd buy one to compare with my C-M. Especially if the cylinder and timing were the same. I'm not convinced the 661 cm runs lean but my 462 certainly does

So ... how does a traditionally-carbed 661 compare to a 660? Anyone ran them side-by-side?

According to Stihl, the 660 is 7.1 hp and the 661 is 7.2 hp but I suspect muff modding the 660 and fattening it up would more than make up for that 1.4% difference in power...add a MAGNUM decal and it's all over!
