Termites

I have a water oak that is about 50 feet tall . There's termite damage at the base and goes almost halfway through it . Is my tree salvagable?

Agree with GB....pics...Termites only eat dead cellulose, and an abundance of this in the tree may mean the tree isn't healthy.
