We are inundated this year by sticky weeds - probably incorrectly referred to by us as thistle (and we definitely have some of those). The ones I'm referring to send roots underground and the come up similar to strawberries. However these are noxious weeds. The problem is, they're growing in and around trees and shrubs.

Is there an herbicide that we could use to just kills these weeds, roots and all? Perhaps something we could inject into the plant itself (imagining ourselves spending hours with a hypodermic needle injecting all these...)? We want to avoid harming the conifer, birch and maple trees while ridding ourselves of these weeds?

Thoughts?

Thanks!
Jim
