Hi all,

Thought I'd post here with my question. I have probably a dozen or so dead ash trees. Most are under 12" in diameter and halfway down a ravine. Seeing as how they've been dead for a few years I'm guessing, what do you guys think of trying to pull them over with a long chain? I was thinking about hooking 10' up or so, with a 100' chain. Then hooking on to a 65hp tractor or 35hp dozer.

In the event of a mishap, it's hard to run on the bank of a ravine to escape danger.

Seems like at this point the roots should be somewhat rotten as well.

Thoughts?

Assuming you want the wood, if they've been dead with the bark still on them, they may be too punky to be worthwhile. If they've been dead with the bark off, you may have to saw them. If there is any "lean" to them, be aware that Ash is prone to barber-chair.
