I have a mature 50 foot or so Oak tree-it has what at a glance looks like an old stump right beside it(about 1 foot tall and 1 foot accross-but the bottom of the growth goes deeper than the outside is tall-)-but its not-its hollowed out and growing on the root of the oak-the sides of the "stump" are rounded over and the outside has bark not rotting in anyway-its almost like the Oak grew this as some sort of water retaining method? it always has some water even throughout our drought we had here-maybe drawing water from the ground?definetly not a old stump that has been cut with a saw-
