Wildland firefighter saw-ops-related injuries happen every year.

This may be the first case where a Falling Module (made up of pro timber fallers, not firefighters-running-saws) were involved with injuries to firefighters.

Brief mention of a language barrier....
That'll get ya every time.

There is a scaffold company that works the various manufacturing facilities in this area. They are good at what they do, but NONE of them speak a lick of English. It was a real problem at first, a crew of 20-30 showing up on the job site with no way to communicate with the project manager/job rep (or anyone else for that matter)
Most sites now require one representative that can speak both languages on every job for both safety and efficiency purposes.

Ain't nobody got time for Google Translate 😂

On those 20-person crews, the crew boss plus the three squad bosses are required to speak English.

It has been my experience that, generally, more than just four people speak English on those Spanish-speaking crews.

The fact that the person supervising the cutting (falling boss trainee, in this case) did not know where those guys were, is probably not tied to the Spanish issue.
