I would like to build a treehouse and I'm looking for some guidelines from the experts here. I have the perfect tree, a cottonwood, with a few spots in it that are perfect. Is there anything I need to know? I also do not want to damage the tree in any way. Any help would be so much appreciated. Thanks!

That's a tough situation. Perhaps some sort of system with adjustable slings that hold the house up and pads on the branches that it rests on? To not damage the tree, the house would have to be movable as the tree grew.

We had a tree house back in the day in between a couple black cherries and an ash. The floor joists were nailed to the tree, and after a couple years, the tree had to grow callous wood around the tree house boards. The scars are still there today.
