Understanding Husqvarna serials

I get the Model year and week and whatnot but what confuses me is when I go to a parts site and they have numbers such as 390XP from 2016-09. If 2016 is the year then what is the -09? I feel someone is going to tell me and I'm going face-plant into the keyboard lol. Go ahead and make me feel dumber'er.

I believe -09 is the month of implementation for the changes, so if the saw is an early 2016 it'll be the previous style but if it was made after September it'll be the updated style.
