Usually, I don't like working with manor stone, especially back yards. But this project was pretty enjoyable if I ignore that the blocks weight 63 pounds each. The old wall was starting to decay and lean out, and the steps were disintegrating. No real need for the steps. Pretty straightfoward - cull the old wall, replace with manor stone and regrade where the steps used to be. Found 2 salamanders about 6" under surface in moist holes. They survive - put them in the edge a leaf compost pile that was wet. Now this area is all set for bark mulch.

nice work! yeah those manor stones are heavy. had to do a whole parking lot retainer with those once, not too enjoyable.
