This is what I use to keep my spare chains in. Only costs like $25 at the local disposal joint and it's water tight. I just chuck it in the back of the ute (Aussie pick up) and know they won't rust.

Tough enough for the army, tough enough for me.
 
Same here. Contents:

Spare chain
Scrench
Small carb adjust screw driver
Cable shackles

Began using it in 1977 and painted bright orange for easy locating.

My overall tool kit is a plastic milk carton. Holds

Ammo box flat on bottom
1 gal bar oil
1 gal mixed saw gas
Mini lever action grease gun
16" guage stick (also orange for locating it)

Plus 2 saws (ms 310 and husky 51) plus sometimes Stihl 041 if I am cutting bigger stuff.
