Having said that, looks like maple to me.

Test it by seeing if the early wood (lighter colored part) is significantly softer than the late wood (darker colored lines). You should even be able to tell with your finger nail.

I concur, Southern Yellow Pine , and you can find pre made stair treads at any quality lumberyard or home improvement store.
