I think if I had to go with one saw, it would be the 440 over the 361, simply because you have greater capacity when you do need it for large trees. I've been using an 038 magnum for years as my one saw, and would hate to go down in power from that. It is heavy, but you get used to it (038 weighs as much as a 460). Get the 440 before it is too late.

^^^^^^
What he said..

440

if i did alot of small limbing it would be 361 but it sounds like your cutting bigger stuff 10" and up a 440 would be a better saw you have a 260 to limb with great combo

Alright. Check this out. Called around town to get availability of the 440. I can get the 440 with 20" bar for $719.00. I also found a place that will sell me a 441 for $699.00 with a 20" bar. What to do?

Most, but not all, prefer the 440 over the 441. If your willing to put up with the weight of a 441 then consider 460 for the higher output.

If only one?

71cc all the way (notice how I didn't use the word "Stihl" or "440"). A little hefty for light work, but I would rather have a back ache than be underpowered in the big stuff.

the 440 is well worth $20 more IMO.

If I were you, I would jump on that 440 and never look back. If I could only have one saw, that would be the saw for me.

I called too

I also called around no 440 in stock and the best price for a 441 w/20'' bar $799+6% sales tax and he might be able to throw in a new chain....

2 friends of mine recently switched from 044/440 saws to 441's. They both run small businesses with fleets of 7-10 saws. I bought mine at the same time.

The 440 is a GREAT saw. I just prefer the 441 for several reasons. It's got more torque to pull a long bar, is smoother, a bit faster in the cut, uses less fuel, is a bit heavier and is quite a bit more efficient with fuel. It doesn't take to porting as well. That being said, mine is ported and runs awesome.

Either way you can't go wrong.

I can't believe I can get a 441 for $20.00 cheaper. Most places want $749.00-799.00. No one is dealing on the 440's either. $719.00 was the best I could talk the guy down to. There is one more 440 locally and the shop wants $799.00 for it and won't budge.

Maybe you should jump up to the MS460. It's only a few ounces more weight, a tad over $800 with even higher output.

If I could do it all over again I would have a 260 and a 440. Yes the 361 is an excellent all around one saw, but it is much better to have two saws: one for small and one for big. I would stay away from 441 & 460 more weight that I do not need. Good luck, and please tell us what saw you purchased.

there is one more option.. if you are more of the weekend warrior type... check out eBay.. i know i will probably get flack for that suggestion. just another possibility

Awesome 2 saw combo, the best imo. Great pic too. Get the DP like Tzed mentioned and you will be even more happier.:biggrinbounce2:

Thanks guys!! The dealer I bought it from said Stihl was trying to buy the saw back from him? For those of you who are dealers, have you ever ran into that? Just wondering if he was BS'n me.
