I know walnut and butternut have juglone, but are there other species to be aware of? We have horses, and sometimes receive wood shavings from people for bedding. Juglone can seriously disable or kill a horse though. That is the reasoning behind my question. Thanks in advance to anyone answering

I have no facts to contribute here, but this post got me interested in the juglone thing.

When I used Google and Webcrawler, its interesting how much information I found about that stuff by entering in words like:

juglone, walnut, animals, compost

There is all kinds of interesting info including how to break in down in compost and what parts of walnut trees have high or low concentrations.

Good post topic.
