White Oak?

I thought the bark looked like white oak but after bucking a piece off the end I'm not sure?

Doesn't look like white oak bark to me. The end grain doesn't look like oak at all, but the extent of decay makes it hard to tell much.

agree/ Bark looks a little like cherry but wood is too far gone for me to take a guess
