Its much harder to cut wood from the ends of a log ie milling, the easiest way is to cut parallel (noodling). Well its the same for fire, it will burn a split fast as its surface area ratio is mainly the sides where cookies surface area is mostly ends.
 
Wood cookies must be a pain to stack and season. What do you guys do, use a tire rack or something?
I try to avoid cookies. If I end up with some, they get broken into smaller thin pieces - 4" W X the thickness of the cookie X the diameter of the cookie. Pieces with the right dimensions get stacked with the rest of the firewood. What can't get stacked ends up with the shorts & uglies.
