Looks ugly......................................................Now, toss it.

Are the 4 screws on the bottom of the saw still there? The worm spring looks too tight, but that didn't cause all of that heat.....

Here is one that I took apart for repair that someone cooked. This was obviously done with the brake on. There are plenty of dummies out there.

The clutch got so hot that it weakened the springs and would engage at an idle.

Even thought it isn't a cheap Stihl, it looks like dumpster candidate! :givebeer:

Yeah in the big picture probably.

Just for fun though, I looked up the prices for a new engine cradle, oil pump and brake assy and it was just over $50 in parts.

Try that with a Stihl . Last time I looked into fixing one of those melted down MS250's it was lots and lots more for parts.

Sorry for doing a "post & run" last night.
Yeah, the brake band needed to be pried out, the oiler cover is nuked
And clutch is cooked, spring and shoes just sorta fell out.
didn't get a chance to mess with any more yet.
It actually cranks though.
I'll shoot some pics of all the wreckage in a few days and try to learn how to post 'em.

=
and yeah, I need to do something better about my (slack azzd) profile page.
Maybe a few days in the project pile will finally inspire me.

If anyone gives a rip about the wild thing:
It came with a new hub/spring/shoes clucht center assy.
screws were still in the case bottom, saw seemed to crank and revved normaly (no B&C) enough.
prev owner looks to have stopped it (melted down) before burning up the bar and safety chain.
from the melted oiler quitting.
Could be that just an oil pump and clutch bearing~drum[also?]
may get it wilding again (minus brake).

had planned to post some pics, but seems I had a blackout around Sunday
and along with some other odditys I've noticed around the house
...I can't find my camera ...

guess that when I figure out what happened here, I'll get back to the work bench & saw(s)

Let us know what the model number is off of the starter, I have a bunch of Poulan donor saws about. You will have to address that worm spring on the crank shaft. I once tried to order the official tool to set the pitch on that, but it seems to be in eternal backorder.

Fish, Yeah i was thinking that oiler drive coil could ba na interesting bit ti alighn
(at a glance) The clutch cover seemed undamaged.
Was already guilty of planning to run the no brake "mod"

Thanks for all the responses [ dumpster & other wise ;) ]

been finding my self making some weird "mistakes" lately
Think I need to see what's up with the blackout (not my first 1) maybe meds related?
and then get back to wrenching.
