I just picked up a Dolmar 120 knowing it was a little tired. Compression tested a bit low (around 110) but the saw does start and does an ok job. Bucked a bunch of seasoned Alder with it today and it had no problems but the other day when I tested it at the sellers house it was having a hard time in a bigger piece of Maple. No scoring on the piston when viewed with the muffler off so may just need ring/s. Just wondered if anyone has ever made a 120 into a 120 super and if there were any obstacles besides cost. Also, what are the difference besides CC's between the two saws?

120 runs the older style metal handle. The 120 super has the same very high quality mahle cylinder as the 120si and if you have a good one I would keep it and use it in one of those with the tillotson "injector" HS carb, in a plastic handle saw. Just re ring the 120.
