I've been searching for a am good while now and still can't find a chart for decoding the stamped bar numbers into what bar mount it is...

Anyone got a decode chart for me? Help!

I never could find a chart when I had some NOS Sandvik-Windsor speed tips laying around Nate. Some of the old numbers transferred over to the Windsor numbers if I remember correctly, and if they don't show up in Windsor literature your best bet would be to call Windsor themselves. Have you googled any of the bar numbers? And if you have and didn't come up with anything, you may try the last 3 or 4 digits of the number series, it may be a pattern for the mount. Just a thought, shoot me a PM if you don't come up with anything and I will try to do some digging.

thanks guys,
I talked to a lady today that has the bars (out of state from me) and would like to help her decode them. She'll be selling them eventually but wants to get inventory for now. I want to make sure she gets the money she's deserves on them. Yes, I might cherry pick one or two for a reasonable price if there is something that absolutely screams my name... But I think everyone that calls her for a bar will want the mount and what it fits so I thought I would make her a spread sheet. If I were closer I would head over with a dial caliper to measure all the mounts.

I'll post the list when I get it...

Maybe someone has a bar breakdown or some key's on what letters represent what???

For example the one I ear marked for myself is this one... 43 UXL 63 ST

Unless I missed my mark its: 43inch, D096 .063

I "speak Windsor" pretty good, so if you can post a few questions I'd be happy to answer them. Also have a few Windsor books at the store.

UXL might be a Homelite mount. Not sure on that one.

A very knowlegable member indicated that a UXL is very close to a D007 mount

Both have a 9.5mm slot, as far as I know.

well spoke Troll.

Both do have 9.5mm slots... The only difference is that the oil holes are positioned a little differently and the chain adjuster hole is a little smaller on the Pioneer (D007) mount vs the Homelite (D096/D196)

Either way it's good ol' Windsor/Sandvik steel and will probably become a D009 since it's also 9.5mm. Maybe, D025 if I feel like making Mike mill it out for me. :msp_biggrin:

As far as I know, D009 actually is 9 mm, not 9.5 - there is a misprint on Acres site.

The first one appears to be a 21" 0.063 gauge bar, number two is a 20" 0.050 gauge bar, #3 I'd need to see a pic of the mounting area, number 4 I'm not really sure, and number 5 is a 21" 0.063 bar. If you want to know what mount they are, measure the width of the slot and take a pic of the mounting area, between the two of those I should probably be able to help you out.

Hey just happened to come into possesion of a really old McCulloch SP81 and it had this old rusty bar on it. After cleaning off the surface rust the bar is back to new and i can make out a windsor number 28TMX58SNA I've deduced its definitely an 11 link tail 28" but 58SNA I'm not sure about I'm assuming 58 means 0.058 gauge but no clue what SNA means

TMX is the same mount as an Oregon D176,

58 is .058 as you assumed and SNA is a speed tip sprocket nose for 3/8 pitch
