Sweet...so what does a 30 lb of pellets sell for....heats up to 750 s/f.
A 40 lb bag went for 6.99 on my checking...so it will use maybe 5$ in pellets a day to heat 750.
$5 a day times 30 days is $150. My house is double what that unit days it can heat on the high end. So that would be 300$ a month in pellets.
I can buy cordwood for less that half of that and it's delivered.
It's cute but not cute enough...kinda cool though.
You're way high on pellet cost for heating.:smile2: Mini-marts do sell pellets for those prices, but if heating with pellets you should buy them by the ton, same as buying firewood by the cord vs. in little bundles at the mini-mart.
Pellets in my area are $160-225 a ton, depending on type of wood and quality. Hardwood pellets cost more, pine pellets cost the least and seem to only work well in some stoves.
If I lived in an apartment with unit power meters and electric heat I would seriously look at getting one of these. I've got friends who lived in drafty apartments built into old warehouses in the city and they only heated to 50° in the winter because it was so expensive to keep their place warmer.
