...I know Mel will have a car full!

Lol, I was just going to post that I was planning on bringing either a 1920's Galloway 5hp with a belted saw or the 1940 John Deere B hooked to that same saw. Keep forgetting I'm going in for my hernia surgery September 1st, so I think I'll leave the cast iron stuff at Home this time, lol

Sounds like fun. I need to also keep track of the other GTGs in the area this fall. The one in Ashokan looks close enough, I thought i remembered one last fall that was up in Green (?) NY north of Albany and it was just too far to drive for my interest.

I think a donation jar for any food would be perfectly acceptable, I'd throw in some money for food. I can also bring gas/oil if that's what folks do, just wasn't sure since I haven't been to a GTG yet.

The other one is up at Greenwich. I always mean to stop and meet 166 when I'm up in NY but never seem to get time. Heck I bought a saw from Spike and I've never even met him yet either.

Norwich is over on the Rhode Island side right? Hey, it's closer than Lee's and I go to his so I should be able to make it.

Lee and I haven't talked dates yet, but we like to keep ours about 3 weeks apart. He usually goes late Sept and I do a mid October deal.

Might help with location / drive time

Norwich is right next door to the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos for a landmark. Probably 15 to 20 minutes from the I95 / I395 junction. Figure a little more than 1/2 hour down Rte. 2 from the junction of I84 in East Hartford.

Be forewarned, due to major construction on I84 in the Waterbury, CT area that will be ongoing for a few years I would strongly urge looking at alternate routes.

From the north, about 45 minutes from the I90 (aka Mass Pike) and I290 / I395 junction. IIRC toll on the Mass Pike from NY border to Worcester is about $2.00, though I haven't driven that stretch of the Pike past Springfield for a couple years.

Take Care

Nawh is right down the road from me. I can be there depending on the weekend. As Jed said, I haven't been to one since SkippyKTM's. Let me know when it gets closer what you would like for me to bring.

I drive i84 through waterbury nearly every day during the week... its cruddy, but not THAT bad. usually from waterbury out to exit 25a there is a delay, an extra 10-15 minutes maybe, and difficult to get around. its mainly bumpy...so watch out for that if you have saws that can fly out the truck :)

I'm in provided I don't have tests or anything super busy going on at the moment.

I wouldn't worry about attendance...there's lots of guys on here from CT...they're not always the loudest, but there are plenty of them and connecticut is a small enough state that just about anyone in the state could make it in an hour or two of driving.

Re gas and mix: most people bring their own, I've bummed a tank or two off of people at previous gtgs because I travel in a small car and don't really love the idea of smelling gas for a 2 hour drive...the little tru-fuel cans stop the odor though.

Happy to chip in for food...from past GTG experience if you just do a potluck type deal that works well too. People will end up bringing food regardless, and then generally when people bring food they don't feel obligated to chip in...so just doing a potluck deal generally works out fine.

Hey guys, look for an "official" CT GTG announcement thread in a few days. This thread was just a feeler to see if there'd be interest.

In the meantime, so y'all can scratch something on your calendars other than when your next doctors appointment is, the date will be the first Saturday of November. This year the first Saturday of November falls on the 7th. It'll be a one-day event, sunrise to sunset, held at Dan's place in Norwich CT. That said, who knows? As a year or two pass we may find that evolving into a two-day thing looks more attractive. BBQ and first liar never stands a chance stories around a fire after running saws and BS'ing all day? Come on, I'm ready to do that right now! Lol

Randy, while I humbly accept and heartfully appreciate your kind words, please don't mislead these guys... :D
