How recently have you ran new Stihl chains? I only ask because in the last 5 years I have never cut with a brand new Stihl chain that wasn't absolutely butter. The only thing I've ever done to their new chains was taking the rakers down a stroke or 2.

That recoil cover has a sharp look to it. Weird how some think this saw is butt ugly and some like myself love it.

I think people are just weary when it comes to new husky saws (and Stihl for that matter) because of the documented problems of new releases. The 372 is proven from here to the moon and can be had at half the price of the 572. Not that any of this is news to you but I respect his point of view...

I have a MS 440 that only wears a 25" bar and it handles every kind of wood with ease. You don't need to worry about a 440 or 044 with a 25"

Well if I was in your shoes, my order of priority would be getting that 394 > everything else. I'd do everything I could to make sure he doesn't sell that thing to anyone else. I just bought a lightly ported 395 for $650 and can't tell you how glad I am that I swiped that up before anyone else...

If everything is good with the saw and you pay the asking $400, you would be welcomed in the "You Suck" thread. That 394 could have a toasted top end and $400 would still be a good price IMO. Plus it comes with a 42" b/c??? No brainer!

Well if it ran flawlessly when you started it from your heated shed and then runs like crap when it's exposed to cold air temp, I think the easiest troubleshooting you could do would be just to quick richen it up and tune it outside in the cold...would take 1 minute and then you'd know for sure...
