Did you find a suitable replacement coil? Have you tried any aftermarket coils?

Has anyone tried Chinese coils? Hot starting has been very difficult with the original coil.

Spark gets weak when hot, runs fine after a cool off. Any good replacement coils for this saw?

I have 2 Makita DCS401 saws that both run well and start well from a cold start. Restarting after the saws get hot is no joy. I switch off and let the hot one cool off and the saw starts fine.

Are Surefit, Stens, and other aftermarket filters all the same as Walbro125-528-1 ? This fuel filter is for a Makita DCS-401/ Dolmar PS-401

Is it correct to tune saws richer in cold weather(winter) and leaner in warm weather(summer) ?

So if you change from 93 with ethanol to 90 without ethanol, a slightly richer carb setting would seem appropriate.

What tips do you have when re-tuning for higher and lower octane and ethanol vs non ethanol fuel?

How often do you run your spare/backup saws ? Do you just store them until you need them or occasionally run them? What's best for older saws?

I own 2 Dolmars and will continue to own them despite the "RISK". My PS401 is my go to saw and has been for the past 16yrs.

Picked this up from craigslist for $70. It has hardly been used maybe 1 tank, but has been sitting for the past 10 years.I took off the muffler and the cylinder looks brand new. Do I need to do anything else before starting it up?
