If you strike a metal stake in a stump, a good way togrind is to have oxy cutter on site. It will burn it deeper than angle grinder. grind down to stake and then burn deeper again.

Anvil should be square and sharp. not rounded off. Set clearance to hacksaw blade, 1/32". Keep the revs up! Make sure there are no obstructions in the chute, bends, daggy weld etc. hope this helps.

I use 22 grade in my Abbey and GMJ lifts. 46 grade causes heat friction.

The new Carlton 12" is a great machine too.

Maybe loose fan belt? Had a BC1800A with a broken water pump impeller as well .

Hi H, Ours ran for many years after the repair. We only stopped using it when our Workcover Authority (same as OSHA) banned the chuck and ducks.

The bevel should be on the opposite side to the material. Yours sounds right as it is.

I have repaired one of these. Take out the rotor, bore a hole the same dia as the shaft 6" deep, cut 2 1/2" key ways full depth. Have a shaft made to press in and accept the keys. Much cheaper than a new rotor.

I use an oxy-acetylene torch to carefully blow out the bolt heads. It won't damage the pocket if you know what you doing

I take it you mean this happens with the air filter removed. If the saw is running ok, don't worry about it.
