ms260 with ms460 air filter cover?

I think the 460 filter is nearly as wide as the 260, you'd have to cut the airbox off the 260 and graft the 460 box and filter base on. It'd be a huge boxy mess to try and make it work. The size difference is huge between the two.

ms260 with ms460 air filter cover?

They're completely different, there's no benefit in putting a bigger cover on there. The two saws use entirely different air filter setups and attach completely differently, they're even completely different shapes. What are you hoping to achieve with a larger cover? You will not gain any more...

Sudden loss of compression with Stihl

In my experience they run awesome when they're lean, just a little too awesome then they don't run at all. My guess would be a dry hardened crank seal that got worse after he richened it up.

    Stihl models advice?

They put .325 on the 50cc class saws generally and 3/8LP on the under 50cc saws, then there's the .043 gauge 3/8lp on the 181, they even have a 1/4 on the really small ones and a .404 for the really big saws. You can convert the 261 to take a 3/8 chain and there's nothing wrong with that if it...

Husqvarna 51 really troubling no start

100psi minimum, absolute minimum and that's well due for a rebuild. A healthy engine should have 140+ if the gauge is accurate.

    Stihl models advice?

The pro grade saws are definitely better built and lighter (261, 362, 400, 462 etc...) they are more expensive but repairs tend to be cheaper and easier and you tend to go much longer between repairs. For the farm saws you'll notice the 291 and 391 weigh the same and look the same, it's...

    2 stroke running backwards?

It's a feature not a bug! Almost all modern 2-stroke snowmobiles switch running rotation for reverse, hit the reverse button and they idle down, give a little kick and are running perfectly happily backwards.

Changing Bar Pitch on Stihl MS261

Is this a full Stihl dealer or a big box type store that just happens to sell Stihl? A Stihl technician would know what works and what doesn't, a typical sales floor or tool counter person at a big box store I could definitely see making these mistakes.

Absolute BEST chain for 50cc saws

I've got an 026 (red lever if that matters) that seems a little punchier than the other 026's I've used, it pulls a 16" 3/8 chisel chain very happily through 10-12" wood. My brother has one that's a few years newer and his is not nearly as happy with the 3/8. I know both are bone stock and I...

FS80 trimmer - acting like it is hitting a rev limiter

My FS131 was so lean that it would stall at WOT, richened it up till I found the rev limiter and went a little bit richer. Just enough to drop the RPM's down under the limiter. Granted mine is a 4-mix motor but the tuning process on a limited coil is the same. It could also be that the trimmer...

Easy Trick to Make Trimmer Line Stronger

It's pretty well known that nylon absorbs water which makes it more flexible and tougher. It does make it slightly weaker but the increase in toughness and flexibility is what really matters for a trimmer line.

    Stihl FS91 line speed?

I wouldn't worry about it, I've got the FS131 and it does everything I need and I rarely use full throttle. Way more than enough line speed. Your FS85 is rated at 7500rpm at the trimmer head, the FS91r is 7150, not that much difference

    MS391 or MS400 ?

The only spec that are close is the displacement. MS400 is almost a pound lighter, has over 20% more power, higher revving, better ergonomics, overall an entirely different class of saw. It's like comparing corvette to a station wagon, ones a high performance machine and the other is a work...

    Tig welder

I've got a miller dynasty 200dx that has been fantastic, probably more than you want to spend but it's got more features and controls than the space shuttle. If you're looking for cheaper units, find a transformer based synchrowave or whatever the lincoln equivalent is. They will outlive your...

    Stihl 026

Any idea what year they went from a red lever to the black lever? I've got a red lever and my brother has an older black lever and mine seems to have quite a bit more power than his.

Am I doing something wrong? Unfortunately vague description

Sounds like you need to track down a good used 025 or ms250, a little bigger than the 180 a little heavier but not much. It'd be a good backup for either saw and it's still small enough to be easily controlled and could likely be found cheaper than a new equivalent to the 180.
