I do my own rebuilds and repairs, but sometimes I need his help.

He is good people. He thought I had removed the nut, he did not look. Said he would not think the puller will fit over the nut. It goes around the hex but does not clear the flange on the nut, easy to see why it broke.

Needed to pull the flywheel to replace seal. Usually drive a screwdriver in behind the flywheel and tap on the shaft. Been working for me on the 40 other saw rebuilds I have done. Was not sure if I should on the plastic/poly flywheel, so I went to the Stihl doc to have him remove it. I did not...

A live with it or drain the tank kind of thing?

My 2165 leaks oil out through the pump discharge line when it is not running. If I loosen the oil cap, it will quit. I changed the vent on the side of the saw between the bar studs. Is there another vent for the oil tank?

Picked up a real nice Shindaiwa 575. Real clean, low use saw. Everything works but the kill switch. Checked out the switch with my ohm meter, works fine. Tried grounding the wire to the saw frame. Still does not kill the saw. Wire looks good all the way back to the coil. What might my problem be?

Got some Hondabond 4. Seems to work real well.

Rebuilding a 2165 Turbo. Bad crank seals led to destroyed top end. Replacing with NWP kit from Baileys, 52 mm. Since I am going bigger, is it ok to go without the base gasket? Squish is about .025 without gasket. Will the larger cylinder and higher comp be too much for the lower end?

This saw is missing muffler, clutch cover, chain brake handle and air filter cover. The guy I got it from says he has the parts and will send them to me. Anyway, when I get it together, I will let you guys know. I do not need one this big, will need to sell it at some point.

Got a 488 of Ebay, needed new piston/cylinder they said. Got lucky, cylinder cleaned up just fine, only needed a piston. Piston is a Mako unit, but had to mill of some extra stock off the bottom of the piston. It was making contact with the crankshaft. New piston was .260 from the bottom of the...

I appreciate the offer but I think I will just open up the muffler a little and put a better chain on it. Got too many saws any way.
