Well, I had a good chuckle last night while reading local news paper. Guy has mixed hardwood dried/split 18"- delived $185/cord. I hope that was a type-o. If not, wholly crap, might as well run furnace. A month ago in southern minnesota, a delivered hardwood cord was $80-$85.

I also wonder if these fellas delivering "mixed hardwood", if it is "all" hardwood? I'll assume not...Lets be honest, when these guys are out cutting, when see a prime tree for the woodstove, and here stands some dead/dying POS little scrub tree in the way, you know it went in the customers load somewhere? Some folks can't identify the hardwoods/softwoods. Also possible, they may not care, wood is wood.

Big geographical differences in prices

You can't get long lengths for less than $85 a cord around here. Cut/split green stuff is going for $200 - seasoned is $300 and it's still August. Take a look at this article about Maine's biggest firewood dealer.

http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/energy/2008-08-10-firewood_N.htm

I think what constitues a good deal based varies greatly based on where we live.

That is cheap for a cord.... I just delivered a half cord today of black cherry and oak 1 mile from my house and it was $100.00 dumped. Prices will really rise when it starts to get chilly out.

Here in the midwest I have seen prices at $150 - $200 per cord delivered.

If I were selling seasoned firewood, I would hold back as much as I could until Thanksgiving time. I think we will see +$400/cord this year in the Northeast.

I sell a cord of high btu(locust, ash, oak, hedge, hickory) hardwoods for $160 delivered.

It makes me sick to see what you guys get for wood, price around here is 180 a cord, and it had better all be oak or the customer wont take it. I have had nothing but complaints since our wood went up from 50 bucks a rick to 60 for this year. Have been called a price gouger three times already.

Tell em to buy a saw and cut there own not to mention the woods to cut out of, See if that is any cheaper for them:biggrinbounce2:

Last year was my 1st year burning wood. I've seen prices go from $220 last year to $250 this year for split and delivered.

as time goes on, it'll only go up in price.

but, there comes a point where one has to figure out the cost of burning wood versus the cost of natural gas.

either they pay the woodsman or the utility company.

I'd be mad too if I waited to buy and missed the chance to heat my house this winter for less then $300, delivered.

You want to watch out for the ones that advertise mixed firewood.

Peacock, I fear you are underpriced, provided that's a full cord of that quality. Read all the posts on this thread. Even around here, where June storms blew down thousands of trees, a 1/2-ton pickup truckload of seasoned firewood goes for $100, and that's only about a half cord, random fill. :dizzy:

Ok i think the guy was talking a cord and at $80 that is a face cord. OM how could you cut & Split for $80 a cord.....you cant! According to this http://www.fpl.fs.fed.us/tmu/resources/documents/fuel-value-calculator.xls
I could charge $718.20 a cord for white ash compared to $2.72 local lock in on propane! I am charging $180 a cord or $60 a face cord. I have raised my price 2x's since last winter to get to $60 a face cord (1/3 cord)

Was talking to a bud out west

For the oak (red or white) $499.00 a cord (this years cut), almond this years cut $459.00 plus $50.00 delivery plus stacking fee, higher if it goes in the garage

Look honey isn’t the fire preeeeetty
