They may not be the fastest, lightest, or most popular...but I am quite confident that they will outlast most, if not all, saws on the market.

I have worked on most brands, and ran them all, and Shindaiwa saws are built to last. Really happy to have this cherry 488 - fully adjustable carburetor and Power Pro-Filter kit.

For all your talkin, there must be something to those saws. Gotta try one sometime...

Just trying to spread the word. They don't lead the pack as far as performance (but the 695 will cut right with a 044/440), but they are built so well, and have good torque. In the sub 50cc class, they can't be beat as far as build quality and stout construction is concerned - they have this market locked down IMO. They don't have the following that Stihl does, but they have far superior small saws.

Nice looking 488!

Are you saying that Shinny makes a better small saw than Stihl?

I am. All magnesium cases, all vertical cylinders...Stihl doesn't offer that until the MS260 - at a price of nearly $500.

Hey Saw Troll what do you think of the statement?

simply the best power-to-weight ratio in its class Shindaiwa 446

http://www.edgeandengine.com/compon...art/Itemid,59/page,shop.browse/category_id,1/

It's probably true since the 346 is now technically a 350 - upped the displacement to counter the fact that it got neutered with a catalytic muffler and rev-limited coil.

Shindaiwa is close to market a 50+cc saw, and are looking at the 60cc market pretty hard. The 757 will stay :biggrinbounce2:

fully adjustable carb

They interest me. I'm going to stop in at a dealer about 10 miles from my place next time I'm over that way.

Do they all have fully adjustable carbs?

Any cat mufflers?

Where are they manufactured?

I wonder why they aren't more popular?

Tell me more.

I have a buddy that swears by his Shinddaiwa's. He has several Stihl's collecting dust in the shed which is wrong I don't care what you use.

Shinny power equipment is used a lot here by pro operators, particularly their brush cutters, etc as they go forever.
When I went saw shopping a few months back I looked seriously at Shinny's and Echo's, and would've been happy with anything from Shinny, Echo, Stihl, Husky or Dolmar, but ended up with a Makita/Dolmar as the price was just too good.

on an extracurricular firewood outing a few years ago, a friend of a friend pulled up to the meeting spot and slung out his saw to fuel up, when some of the other guys caught sight of his saw they began to laugh and joke that he might as well have brought an electric mixer . . .so i made my way over to view this unworthy tool . . turns out it was a Shindaiwa, a 488 i believe, looked like a decent enough saw to me . . .well anyhow while the other guys pissed around getting their old big and heavy "man saws" started, this guy had a tree down and nearly limbed, that little red saw didn't skip a beat all day and i was so impressed i had to steal some time on it . . . it felt and handled as well as anything from Europe.

Funny you posted this, cause a guy I knew just told me the other day than he has never seen a saw cut so fast and blow up so fast, apparently he wasn't impressed.

I checked them out a few months ago and although they looked to be built extremely well, the rear handles seem out of proportion to me......Way too small.

Never ran one so can't comment on that but the tiny rear handle made me not so interested......

Here in Australia they have an impressive warrany: 5 yr domestic / 2 yr commercial. Not sure if that applies elsewhere or not.
