Husqvarna makes, or has made, a variety of brands of lawn and garden tractors. This site is to showcase some, (hopefully many), of those brands. Husqvarna was formerly part of the Electrolux Group.

Electrolux is the world's largest builder of lawn & garden tractors. A short run-down on the company:

1978 - Purchased Partner of Sweden

1979 - purch. Husqvarna of Sweden, which traces roots to 1689

1979 - purch. Jonsered of Sweden

1979 - Weed Eater merged with Poulan

1986 - purch. Poulan/Weed Eater of USA in 1986 from Emerson Electric, and operated as a div. of WCI, White Consolidated Industries Outdoor Products

1988 - purch. American Yard Products of USA

1988 - Partner-Pioneer div. merged into Poulan/Weed Eater, creating the Poulan Pro brand

1989 - purch. Roper outdoor products unit from GE, and renamed American Yard Products

1990 - purch. Allegretti & Co., makers of the Paramount brand and merged into Poulan/Weed Eater

1997 - Poulan/Weed Eater, Frigidaire and American Yard Products combined to form Frigidaire Home Products

1999 - purch. rights to McCulloch products outside of USA

2000 - purch. Blue Bird

2000 - USA operations renamed Electrolux Home Products

2005 - Electrolux announces plans to spin off or sell the Outdoor Products unit

2006 - The Electrolux Outdoor Products unit, including Husqvarna, is spun off into Husqvarna Outdoor Products, part of the new Husqvarna Group.

2006 - Acquired Dixon Industries, a US-based manufacturer of residential zero-turn mowers.

2007 - Purchased the Swedish lawnmower company Klippo.

2007 - Purchased outdoor products division of Japan's Komatsu Zenoah.

2008 - Purchased Jeng Feng Industrial of Taiwan, the owner of the McCulloch brand in North America, thus giving Husqvarna world-wide rights to the McCulloch brand

I wonder if they will continue to make the Taiwan version of the mac and ship it here, or if it will become another color Poulan made in the US

Most important year 2006 with the independence from E-lux ;) Back to the roots from 1689.

Huisqvarna is one of the oldest companies in the world.

Hmmmm.. so how's that rash buying of all the junk brands working out for them?

layoff of 850, 15% decrease in sales.. lololol

:greenchainsaw: :greenchainsaw: :greenchainsaw: :greenchainsaw:

huskapullon bought all those companys and still can't put a dent in Stihl sales, LOL. They need to drop the crap saws and get into the "Stihl" way of selling.

From what I've heard, 90% of Stihl's sales are 290s LOL!

Well, the last 2 weeks I don't see layoff of 850 world wide as something tragical. In 2 weeks Volvo has presented layoffs of 6300 people, over 5000 in Sweden. Only in September, more than 10 000 jobs in the manufacturing are gone. Not to mention you Americans, soon you won't have any money to buy saws from anyway ;) Heard the value of GM is now lower than in the 1950s.

The 290 is a great saw and one of it's best sellers.

:monkey: :monkey: :monkey:

Well, they don't even offer it here - they know it would be a looser - same with the 310..........

Another thing, Husky never made a POS saw at their own factory, but Stihl does that all the time on theirs.....

I love it....when a Huskymaven wants to claim "We're the biggest!" they will embrace the whole group, but when it is time to talk about product quality, then it's "Well...Husqvarna doesn't actually make that saw.:monkey:
