Carp... Ropens right on...

Second tree of the day.... 120 foot twisted and leaning cottonwood.. POS.. I hate those frigg'in trees...

In the back cut and the damn tree rotated back over center way before I was even close to a hinge and jambed the saw. Now it's heading the wrong way.... towards a garage.

Second saw to cut it out... tree hangs up and stays on the stump. Lots of screwing around which resulted in the tree sliding off the stump and just catching the bar tip... which was better than the other direction which would have been my beloved 361.

Right in the middle the wife and dog visit... She "couldn't watch...". Good. I wasn't good company anyhow.

Then followed 8 more cuts to get the tree 40 feet shorter (I hate doing that with heavy trees) and standing somewhat upright. My confidence was shot. Took a break..

15 trees (mostly cottonwoods) in front had to go (planned) - I nailed all of them right on target (gap between the sports court and wood shed), then set a rope up in the POS cottonwood and pulled it out with the truck...

Rest of the day worked out fine.. maybe 40 trees down. Two huge alders that needed to be rotated 90 degrees or the green hosue was toast. I left those until last... needed all the cool I could muster.

I left three more gnarley 120 foot cottonwoods - all with gun sights on one of two houses... Told the guy he needed a pro to climb them... Not worth the risk of property and friendship.. yep.. it was all a freebie..

8 hours of aerobics... I had an extra beer or two this evening.

Forest nurse logs. Just garbage wood out here...

Did cut down some nice cherry and Bircth though... That's firewood for sure. Much of the rest will just rot -too much work to recover. The aim was a get sunlight to a garden - cleared all except small vine maples to 100 feet back
