Just got an old mac 1-42 running again. I have really enjoyed using this old saw, but it needs some spikes on it. Anyone have any idea where i might find a spike to fit this old saw. Thanks!:greenchainsaw:

1-46 with the 4 tooth spikes - worked pretty well

I have the whole 1-4X series, and though the IPL's only show 50041 on 1-41, 1-45 and 1-46 all of mine came to me with the brace.

The 1-46 is the only one I've actually taken out to cut with and decided I'm not man enough to do that more than an hour or so any day.

Actually I did find some

For at least one of the two......new ones.

The 1-4X had no bearings at the piston with the exception that Mark pointed out.

So loading the saw by digging in dogs is asking for problems and if coupled with running 50 to 1 it is almost a sure problem.

You can do it but it is like putting big wide tires on an old family sedan that has a big V-8....it will work but you spin those tires a time or 2 and you're gonna break stuff........

Thanks for the info......I did not know that.

I believe the brace they are speaking of is the brace from under the saw extending to the rear handle.. If the lower brace is not present it is common to break the rear handle off when bucking with the spikes do to the pulling upward on the handle..

If the two CP125's I have coming in have the spikes on them I will have a spare I can send you.. I will know Monday.. I bought up a couple off of E-Bay a while back and put one on my 1-43 mainly to protect the front of the tank from getting all scuffed up..
