List a saws design flaw

The ony fault I feel, that my any of my saws have, is that the Husky 50 (1987 vintage) is the air filter is a mesh and not a felt style.

I have two friends who bought them for strictly firewood and will admit that they pull a 20" ok. I've ran both of these saws with 25" bars, one in oak which was a joke and the other in a kentucky coffe bean which is equal to your run of the mill maple and I could almost count the drive links they pulled so slow. I don't know that I have ever been as disapointed in a 60cc saw as I was using them. No comparrison to a 359 or a 361, I think the hp is way over inflated in this model. Sorry to offend those who own them.

Not offending me, but I have no idea what you are talking about. Mine will pull a 28" bar in Eastern hard wood all day long without even blinking.

The air filter on the MS-250 needs rethinking, No seal to keep debris out, It snaps in and is plastic.

There are gaps between the filter and carb mount. Also the filter itself is kinds crappy. Not much protection. Maybe my filter is just bad.

I know it's just a homeowner saw too, But a rubber seal would help a bunch.

Darn "flip caps" on newer Stihl saws...our oldest 440 has black screw-in caps for gas and oil - they'er great! No BS twisting them around to get them to fit in and lock. The oil cap on a ms200T wasn't closed when I thought it was, and all the oil came out when I was up-tree .
Can the screw caps be fitted on newer saws?

Yeah...black threaded caps on an older 440...with a screwdriver slot in the middle. That particulat 440 is our oldest surviving Stihl, probably 8 years old. It's been bucking and noodling big timber (is it OK to call 24" - 48" "big timber"???) ,been through 2 bars and countless chains. One of the reasons I always grab it first is because of those wonderful screw caps with the little strings to prevent you from losing them...and I DESPISE those flippy caps on the newer saws. After looking at them I can see there is no way to retrofit the flippy caps for screw in...ah nuts...

I am told that the redmax g3200 CV has a problem where it eats the plastic recoil wheel with the two cogs very often. And that the replacement parts are even more brittle than what came originally. One guys says he has gone through a pile of them (he posted a pick of some of them) and says one lasted only one start.

I guess the pawls don't get out of the way in time and break up the disk between the cogs. I looked at mine tonight and it is already showing damage even though it almost new.

Sweet saw other than that problem.

I didn't read every post so this might have come up already, but I don't like the tendency of the muffler studs of old Stihls (notably my 090 and 08S) to unscrew from the cylinder if the muffler retainer nut gets a bit rusty or corroded.

Also I really would have loved to see a 395XP with an inboard clutch and side chain tensioner. Not necessarily flaws though.

With the new Walmart Poulans... you have to remove the bar to get them to fit in the trashcan properly.

Gary

I found that the Poulans do not chip up very well in my Bandit. The cheap soft plastic just gets clogged in the chute. They should make them with better plastic!
