The MS362
-More power than the 361, not sure how much
-Late '09/ early 2010 release
-Strato Engine
-I know 2 dealers field testing prototypes, and they have nothing but good things to say about it.

And no there is no plans for a MS261, I know of one other new Stihl saw but I'll keep you guys guessing on that one.

MS 290/310/390 series saw

461?

Just a hunch......

There is a chance that the prototype will not be the same saw that hits the shelves.

It would make sense that Stihl will want to test the saws backbone before it's made EPA compliant with the upcoming progressive restrictions.

Cleaning up the emissions of any engine will detune it, but that potential is stihl there.

5 hp and 12 lb? Who would buy the 441, then? Nobody. Can't see Stihl doing it.

Edit: I know the saw is coming out, but I doubt it will have the specs described. .....

Approx - remember! :biggrinbounce2::laugh::laugh:

Let's wait and see........

Let me make a prediction......... 3/10 lb heavier with 2/10 more horsepower but will sip fuel and have superb filtration. Cost will be $659 PHO!

Stihl sounds like a winner to me.

Now I can't wait to see how close I am!<a href="http://www.sweetim.com/s.asp?im=gen&lpver=3&ref=11" target="_blank"><img src="http://cdn.content.sweetim.com/sim/cpie/emoticons/0002017D.gif" border=0 ></a>

i go agaisnt the grain is all.

nothing wrong with that. i wouldnt be suprised when what hits the shelves shocks dealers that are testing prototypes.

So you think that the prototypes that they are showing dealers might be way different than what becomes the actual 362?

+ 1, excellent prediction, that sounds on the money to me.

who knows. doesnt sound like the proto types were let loose very well, ass weight isnt known id be thrown that thing on scal and tearn the plastic off it to see what underneath.

that doesnt sound like what was aloud to happen. either that or the dealers testing these saws realy could care less.

id predict it heavier than the 361 since it balances better. or the handle is reworked and mounted difrent on the saw like farther forward causeing it balance better.

but yess if 12lb and 5horse id love to have one.

I was at a dealer near me today that normally has prices on Stihl saws right at MSRP (and sometimes even adds on a $10 "dealer setup fee") and was surprised to see some pretty deep discounts. the 361 was going for $550, and a 441 for $749. They're generally on their game, so my guess is they're trying to clear out (going to be tough wiht how things are looking these days) for the inevitable new models at the end of the year.

No doubt, 12 lbs, 5 hp, sign me up. Time will tell the tale.

Very good information. I just asked my Stihl dealer today about the 362,and he has no information yet.

I have an MS 211 and that saw does have a different sound. I bought one as soon as my dealer got one in, and he noticed the different sound right off the bat. Hard to describe, but a little higher pitched and screaming.

I do have a 362 on my wish list.

You'll really like the 211. Yeah they don't sound like the rattlebox stihls of old. They kind of fool ya as far as the rpm's you think their pulling. I could have swore my 441 was cranking 15,000 because of the pitch but tached it and it was at 13,200.

I hope they cured the finicky starting problem of the 361. Mine let me down again yesterday. Finished by using the 310 on stuff the 361 would have shined on.

I was actually impressed by my BIL's MS 310 yesterday... First time I had used one, and the first time my BIL had a sharp chain! :p

I sharpened it real good for him, and we went cutting... Spruce and Lodgepole blowdown. I was impressed with the little bugger (I tuned it for him too), but it needs a muffler mod to breath better, you can feel it in the throttle.

Neat saw for the price though. I didn't even take out the 670 at all.

The little 310...

Just thinkin' a bit.

Why would a rep let a dealer play with a test mule?
Other than to stir interest or let a buddy in(Sorta) on a secret of course?

No specs, no customers involved, not final product etc..

All it would be good for is stirring the scuttlebutt.
Which can be a good thing.

4-5 months till roll out?

If ya want a 361, better grab one now.

Stay safe!
