Thats the way to to it....................

He has made a grand total of 3 posts so far and already has neg. rep......

U da man.......

I gotta confess to given the OP positive rep. These garbage threads are an awesome pretext to talk food.

And I'm man enough to give credit where it's due. (Besides, with all the fresh corn, tomatoes, bush beans, fried garden zukes and squash, I gotta be unleashing a torrent of methane into the atmosphere.)

Let's see....dinsosaurs and plant life being turned into oil at the current time = 0.

Trees being grown that can be harvested and then replanted = infinity.

simple math.

Thanks for the warning....my fishing partner last night was not so kind...I was down wind and that sure was not something I wanted to taste.......

Well it's appearant you are suffering from a severe case of a rectal caranial inversion.
normally I'd feel sorry for a guy with that sort of disposition, but in your blatant disregaurd for any type of respect towards wood burners I feel that my empathy for you would be a travisty of time spent over your total ineptness of being any type of worth while human.

Caint really tell if I sed dat rite bein a hick and all. Spose y'all can get the jist .

Good lord that's embarrassing, and you even edited it! It's apparent you couldn't 'really tell if u sed dat rite', you don't have to point it out. I will say this though, you guys do know your food and the pic you posted of your dinner looks absolutely delicious.

Dude, Why do you want to come here and start an arguement. This is a chainsaw forum, You can't win. You pay you're gas bill and i'll keep burning wood. What if the gas company shuts you off because of low supplys or whatever, You going to stay warm...Not. If you're nicer i might let ya come to my house where it will be warm and cozy by the fire.

That's such a lame argument, the gas company shutting off gas because of 'low supplys or whatever', when has that ever happened and how likely is it to happen with short notice. If that were to happen you'd hear of an impending shortage months if not years ahead of time, that's a bull#### argument if I've ever hear one.

What is it about burning wood that satisfies you? I'm willing to accept that it's a hobby, that makes sense to me, but I'm more aiming at the people who claim that it is actually an better alternative than gas.

Must not have read about the ice storms that went thru southern IL and Kentucky earlier this year...Several thousand people were w/o power for over a month...I bet that wood heat was nice...;)

So your alternative is for everyone to convert to wood burning? Great idea! lol

Figure it out. :hmm3grin2orange:

I'll be honest with you, i enjoy not paying the gas companies and putting the money i save in the bank. It's not really a hobby for me, I do enjoy running a saw but it's hard work and i would rather be fishing or hunting. I do enjoy the different kind of heat that wood produces. I can understand you're concern for burning fossil fuels. Do you drive an automobile, if so they burn fossil fuels or do you have an electric car. Everyone depends on old technology in some ways. Now the gas companies can cut you off for any reason they want, They probably won't but i don't want to be dependant on something i have no control over. I've had power outages at my house and if i soley heated with gas or propane i would have been cold. But the wood stove doesn't rely on gas so my family stayed warm. My neighbors even came over to warm up because all they had was central heat. i do have central heat but it is rarely used because of the horrible amount of money that it takes to use it.

Go ahead and spend your hard earned coin and burn your gas, I will save my hard earned money and burn wood! :chainsawguy:

In the winter I prefer to heat and cook with gas - at times.

Open the hood of the sled, place precooked foil dinner on exhaust pipe and warm hands.

This about the only time gas heat makes any sense to me.

Man I am hungry.

See italicized/bolded. I did that.

Now, paying attention to the part I emphasized. I encourage you to peruse around and point out all the members suggesting what you just said.

My bad, I thought that by pointing out where gas has failed before that wood was more reliable and therefore better. So what was the point of you bringing that up exactly? Just to show that wood is more reliable? Taking a plane is generally more reliable than taking a car, but sometimes things go wrong and people get hurt, should we strip transportation right back to horses? Your point was weak.

What kind of extras you want?...

I was just kidding you.
I know how much labor goes into all of that canning.
I grew up living off of our garden and although my mom has had a stroke and doesn't can anymore my sis does.
So when I go over there I beg to have a few jars of this and that...we call that a care package in my family.

The scuttle is that she's doing a few crates of peaches this week.....looks like I gotta make a visit to beg!

This thread is weak.
Do you know with propane gas they blend it?
You could be getting 30% less in btu's on your next fill and have a price increase to boot.
Oh ya...that's the kind of deal I want....please.
Also when it gets really cold up here propane and oil will jell.
Burning wood I still got heat and at 30 some below it's a big deal not to have to scramble to keep my pipes from freezing.
I socked 30 thousand dollars away not paying for gas over the last 11 years and that;'s after my costs to get the wood to heat instead.

I'll agree burning wood is not for everybody.
However to come here and brutaly be an ass calling folks hicks and insinuating we wood burners are stupid is assinine.
Your attemp for recognition has succeeded although your points fall on deaf ears.
As mention before......this thread is worthless.....except for the parts where food has been discussed.

heck i wish i could ride my horses to work.

I burn wood because it is a cheap reliable resource around me.

It is paid for in advance. I don't get a scare in the mail with a $350 gas bill.

I keep my house warmer and don't feel guilty about it.

My local municipality/farmers would burn the wood in a brush pile that I'm burning to heat my home.

I don't go to the gym. My excersize actually is productive (heats home/shop)

Burning wood tests my knowledge and strength.

I enjoy hard work.

These are some of the reasons I burn wood. If you don't get it, than accept it and move on.
