The SP 105 from Belgium

Here are a few action shots of the SP 105 that Belgian sent me. This was an ash tree that the neighbor lady wanted gone since it was so messy. This tree was surrounded by wires & buildings soI had to use a boom truck get a lot of the high branches down. Weather was very cooperative today making this a reasonably pleasant job.

My son Jeff with the SP125 worrying his way through the log on the ground.

That's the other son Josh in the background, I didn't get one of him running the PM700 but he likes that one and the 7-10 pretty well. We got his Jonsered 2095 running today but he broke the starter pulley trying to restart it hot when he forgot to push in the compression release.

Mark, awesome pictures! I have a Mac hardnosed bar just like that one. . . So pretty I hate to put it in wood.

Hey Mark, will running a 105 put as big a smile on your face as a 125?
The s550 even close to the two?
Nice pics btw.

Glad to see a proud operator and true Mac Man that is worthy of the SP105

I really like the bar and spikes you were able to find for it.

This was my first collector saw and I have been quite emotional about sending it back to country of origin. I am glad she found a new loving home.

Real nice to see you letting errrrrr rip ! Great pics ..

Thats it! I guess I was just being too wimpy the first time I tried it. I don't know what model this is for sure, but it looked nearly identical to my super 44that I got from a friend. The super 44 looks to be in very good condition but the crank was destroyed by the clutch coming loose. I just got my McC IPL cd from ozflea today. Wow, what a treasure trove! The D-44, Super 44, and Super 44A all show a different part number for the crank. I'll just have to hope for the best.
Thanks for the help.

If you look closely, there are two holes in the side cover tapped 1/4-20, just thread in a couple of long screws and use a puller if you don't like the hammer technique.

Running any McCulloch makes me smile, any one in ear shot (could be a couple miles with some of these saws) will know work is being done. While cleaning up today Jeff used the PM700 a few times and I even smiled then. There is just something about the sound those saws make.

The SP125's do draw attention, the SP105 is not quite as strong (as you might expect, it is after all 20% smaller in dicplacement) but it sounds just like the 125's.

I had a really good day with the better one of my two 550's last spring; neither are on par with the 105 but again the sound is just special. Jeff was running the Jonsered 910 that day and the neighbor was running his Husqvarna, when the McCulloch was pulling hard no one in town could even have known there were other saws running alongside.

Today I investagted the little Mac tophandle some more to clean it up and see if I could coax it to run. I don't think this saw was ever cleaned by anyone.

Here's the model number plate, it says "600086" then there is a "U" by the rivet. The serial # is 121190621. I checked for spark and compression and it was good on both but it took some gas poured down the intake to get it to run. So I'm going to clean-up/rebuild the carb. Once I got most of the sawdust off the saw it is in decent shape under all the crap.

Check out the homemade (not by me) oil cap

If anyone has a clutch cover and a oil cap let me know.

Parts

I know this is more of a "what saws do you have" thread but since all the McCulloch guys are here I thought this a good place to ask. I have a Mac Cat I need some parts for but not sure where to look. Needing fuel line and filter, carb kit etc. Any suggestions?

Pics for Jacob as per our PM conversation about the air filter stud hole being drilled and tapped with a heli-coil too far into the carb. Went right into the Needle and seat area...

Here ya go buddy...

Then I put a light behind it... this is from the seat area lookin' through to where the hole was drilled from the other side.
