I'll have to check. I think there's supposed to be a travel limiter there as well, right? I'll be calling you guys again tomorrow for a couple more goodies. Thanks for the prompt service!

I probably have most of what you're looking for. I am all out of decals for those saws. Couple other things you might want to change are the fuel vent, and chain tensioner. What is the date code on the serial number? (First four digits)

Both saws look good cuttin, Brad. Which saw do you like the feel of better? Do you find the Husky a touch smoother? Or pretty similiar, I have lent a Dolmar 7900 and it is getting tested out falling here full time with a 32 inch bar. Stock with the HD air filter. They are impressed so far, but the faller is cutting 12 foot trees and wants to run a 36 or 37... so will see what they think when it gets Simonized.

That blue saw looks good with that black hat on it.

Yes, and probably a good idea to install one, IIRC it prevents the dreaded broken/stretched AV spring that plagued earlier versions when pinched/abused, not that Matt would abuse a saw, but you know what I mean ;)

Keep in mind, it has to have spark arrestors due to the conditions in South Australia.

That's his fault for living above the Goyder Line :greenchainsaw:

I just talked to Nik, and have the confirmation from Matt. A popup will be going in this saw along with a new ring. A new model decal and fuel/oil caps will be replaced to finish tidying it up.

Matt made the comment the other day that he better get the money sent to me before I decide to keep it. After he sent the money, I had to break it to him that I had the best of both worlds. I now have his money and his saw:clap::cheers:

Well wadda you know. I didn't even realise this thread was going until Brad emailed me :)

When Brad emailed me a week or so ago after receiving and modding my P&C and said, ahem, and I quote...

"Hey Matt. I did not get your package out today. But I have an idea. What would you think about me picking up one of these Makita 6401 rental saws sold from Home Depot? I could then put this P&C on it, and you'd have another 7900, only it'd be blue. I could even get a HD filter kit for it swap that out. Yes, I want to see this thing run, lol "

Well I wouldn't exactly class it as sweet talking but he had me conned there and then. I was the one who then said something along the lines of "Sounds good. What about you go nuts on it?". Then he said...

Anyway, you get the picture. Basically I want nothing more than to see Brad end up getting a 7900. I'm slowly wearing him down I think. I am also slightly concerned that he may skip town and keep my saw and money ;)

Put it this way, I don't think Brad will be getting much of those renovations done that he's been talking about for a while.

That 3 port muffler looks like it will burn the chain lube clean of the bar!
I'm going to openly admit it right here and right now - I don't even know what a pop up piston is but it sounds good ;) (edit: tdi-rick messaged me to let me know what a pop up piston is. He was man enough not to openly belittle me in front of other AS members here so thought I'd belittle myself!)
That saw looks pretty strong already mate. Can't wait...

How about this Muffler Mod?

That is a crackup. Looks like it's been getting pretty hot though where it's been crunched? What did that mod cost? :)

Thanks 166. I have a spare updated fuel vent here as I had one block up on my first 7900, hotter weather pressurised and split the tank at the seam. Got it plastic welded up and it's just like new. What changes were made to the chain tensioner with the later models mate?

By the way, everybody thinks I've probably gone mad lately with CAD, oh hang on...
But anyway, my chainsaw/tree felling business is basically paying for any CAD I have. Not that long ago I said on this site that I didn't need another saw and to be honest I'll probably sell one of my 7900's when this 7901 arrives.

It'll probably be only the second black top on the western side of the Pacific after this one

Bloody hell Rick, I sold you that bar so that you'd put it on the RIGHT WAY ROUND :censored:
Now you have to sharpen the back of your chain...

oh bugger, I'm such a :newbie:

Do have any of those left hand files left Matt ?

Special order only Rick for special people ;)

I actually wondered for a second there when I saw your picture where you'd found a notlraC bar. Thought it may have been Russian or something...

By the way, that rain you asked about in my PM just hit with massive winds.

Also just realised the bar in your pic is a Carlton/Tsumura so not one I sold you ;)

Makita 7900 are offered here for 790 euro list against Stihl 441 at 1069 euro list. Sure is hard to resist buying one....hmmmm.

We have a similar price difference in Australia mate in regard to Stihl. With the current exchange rate on the Euro the Makita 7901 price is nearly exactly the same as it is in Australia but as far as US dollars works out to around USD$1100. We really do pay through the nose here hence I've been importing saws from the states.

I tried to smuggle one in from the States but you can't pass customs easily over here. You always pay 21% VAT, on top of a 25 euro handling fee.
Sure makes it less interesting.

Good old Customs. They stung me once - never again (I hope)...

I'm not a good one to ask that, since I'm not real perceptive of vibes.

That blue saw looks good with that black hat on it.
I actually like it myself. I'm not a fan at all of the blue and grey. Honestly, I've never been a real fan of the entire shape of the saw. Believe it or not, this goofy looking HD air filter is actually growing on me. I think I actually like it:dizzy: I have to say that this is a good looking saw.

What do you mean? I already have one;)

Dad's been gone on vacation since last week, and now I've tweaked my back. So no progress there.

Was that white pine you were cutting in the vids?
The larger log is Pine. The other is Walnut.
