it could be a bit expensive, but what about "parkerizing or blueing" a bar...just curious if anyone has...
ok, what's parkerizing?
so if you live in the USA that makes you a gun expert? i didn't know that.Come on Dude, you live in the USA and you don't know what Parkerizing is:bang:It's a finsh applied to firearms!
It's the sort of dark matte finish the military used to put on guns, such as the original M1911, if I'm not mistaken. I believe it still is in use, but not good for stainless or high nickel applications.
If you like they can be powder coated to .
So now tell us about this beast!

It's actually an oxide, a rust. Phosphoric acid in solution is heated to a little shy of 200 degrees f and a clean steel, not stainless, is dipped in it for several minutes.
The finish has the advantage of soaking up lubricating oil, it's very durable.
A close approximation in coatings is moly or gun coat. It's the gun coating mentioned above, it's baked on. it's used by some here, at AS, to add about a thousandth to a piston as needed. I just pulled a half dz out out of the oven, not very tasty and real tough!
With out a doubt that is the best looking saw I've ever seen posted on here.
