looking for a new bar for my homlite super xl. are the forester bars any good? opinions? thanks

I think quality has varied some over the years from what I have read here on AS. I have a 105 driver Forrester bar and it has been good. Not quite as good as Stihl ES, but pretty good. Maintenance has a lot to do with making a bar go the distance. Even a cheaper bar. I think you will be fine with one. Check Baileys too, they often have some great deals on bars.

I bought one from a sponsor here and it was a GB protop bar, even came in a GB shipping package. I have not used it yet but I have other GB protop bars and use them alot with no problems.

I am a dealer for them, and have been using them lately. No, they are not a Stihl bar or Oregon bar. But they are about half the price too, so the price is hard to beat.

They are a little heavyer

Welcome to AS!!
I've used them for years now, and the local loggers here run them as well, and you can't beat the quality you get for the price -they hold up as well as the Oregon and Stihl bars out here.

I can't find anywhere online where the Forester bars are 1/2 the price of any bar maybe 5 bucks cheaper. Even the ebay ones are pricey...Bob

Thats cause i do not have them in the system yet

just be patient

i was just waiting for someone to post something on these and get good reports on them before i build the catalog im a dealer thru them as well

I ran one, for three weeks. Then bought a closeout Carlton for less, I took the forrester I had to be a POS. Soft rails, uneven machining, and it's like they sold me an.058 badged as an .050 or something.

bob forester not available for the 60s model but laser bar is available for the 60s model

Well i have overcome that problem. The big slot Stihl bars will fit just fine on almost all of my old Echo's. I turned some steel bushings and have been running a 16" GB Stihl bar for a few days and it works great. The oil holes are a perfect match for my saws. I can make lots of bushings if any of my Echo buddys want some...Bob

Bob, here is a spacer I made to mount a large mount Husky bar on my CS-750

Piece of cake and the Husky bars are all over the place. The D009 Husky mount almost mirrors the D176 Poulan/Echo mount except for slot size.

That fella with the super XL can use the Husky bars also, just has to file the slot out to 3/8's and maybe file the adjuster holes some.

I have the great big slotted Stihl bar on my CS-1001VL and it works perfect with 2 spacers. I just sold 2 Homey bars that would of worked on it but i can't see 100cc with a 16" bar. Well maybe i can :) ...Bob

My 460 came with a 28-inch Forester Pro bar. I liked it, it works good. The 460 now wears a Stihl ES bar, but the Forester is less money and a good bar. :)

The Forester Pro bars are nice, can't beat them for the price either.

I have yet to run the Pro bar yet. I only wish they came longer than 24" I keep telling the guys they need to make the pro bars a few inches longer. They keep telling me that they will look into it.

My 28-inch Forester bar says "pro series" on it. I ain't no chainsaw ninja or nothing, but I can read. Other than that, I got no answer for you. :dizzy:
