i was wondering if i should choose stihl ms 362 in stead of husqvarna 357xp.which one would you advice me to buy.i ve understood that stihl are a lot lazier than husqvarna but much
more rezistent

Oh lord... Another husqvarna vs Stihl thread. Which ever dealer will give you the best price is who I would go with, both are good saws. You talking about buying a new saw, or a used one? I could not bring myself to lay out $700-$800 for a chainsaw, but I have never cut wood on a professional level.

Buy both of them USED so you can have hands on experience with both of them. Cut with both saws side by side, modify and play with both for a while and then keep the one you like best & sell the other, or sell both. Then proceed to buy the brand new saw after wards.
I've been there & done that several times with my saws, I bounced back/forth between Stihl, Husky & Dolmar but now I run two Stihl 660 full wrap & two 460 full wrap with "ported mufflers" exclusively.
I also have a modded 50cc Dolmar PS-5105 but it just sits in the tool shed hibernating for the time being.
I am supersticious about where my chainsaws are made, any saw that's not Made in Germany I don't touch whether its Stihl, Husky or Dolmar.

If you have a dealer you like better than the other, just go with the dealer.

Where are you at in Romania?

Edit: I guess you could call this 066 Lazy it's only pulling a 18" bar.

Only used a MS362 at a dealer's open house
but I'd go 357XP, and that saw I have a lot of time on.
Reason I recommend the 357XP is not performance based, though I really doubt there's that noticeable a difference in real world operation. The 357XP has the pop top for air filter access, the 362 requires a screwdriver. This as far as I'm concerned was a step back for Stihl, especially on a pro saw. The 362 I've handled at the dealer's seemed blocky and chunky, (great description huh?), not heavy, but not nimble. And of course there's the flippy cap vs threaded gas and oil caps, not a biggy but I prefer the threaded caps myself.
As to waiting for the new saw, well that's up to you. I've always found it's better not to be the manufacturer's beta tester, but that's your decision.
Dealer support should figure in as well. You have to be comfortable with the person you're dealing with in all aspects, not just price.

I am not fond of either... I would look for a NOS 361 or like new 036... The only husky 60ish cc saws I ever liked were the 61 and 362...

Both good saws, but I'd wait and get the new 560/562xp.

I've heard this thing from a Husqvarna dealer who says he has some experience with saws,the both of them and I was wondering if he's telling the truth.I don't have a lot of experience.

Pass on the 362. There seems to be a lot of bugs that need to be worked out on a saw that is that expensive. Sure is not the dependable enjoyable machine that the 361 was.
357, pass on that antique as well unless it is much much much cheaper than any of the branded competition. No sense in rewarding Husqvarna for it sloppy management by paying MSRP for it's antiques. Supposedly Feburary for the new Husqvarnas, last time I asked an "ish" was added so now it is Feburaryish. I think they are waiting to see how many more antiques they can sell before they have to heavily discount the old outdated model because of the new and "greatly" improved model.
If you are not in a hurry wait for the new Husqvarnas, maybe they will be worth the wait. If they are not any better than the 359/357s and Stihl 362s then get a Dolmar or Echo in the 60cc range.

The Dolmar 6400 would be a good choice! Strong saw less money an be upgraded later
Another vote for the 357, i love mine, it is plenty powerful for my needs and doesn't tire you out through out the day. It could run a 20" bar and chain but would be better suited to 16/18. I have never had the pleasure to run a 361/362.
As mentioned, the quick release top cover for maintenance on the husky is a plus feature, considering it has been described as an 'antique' saw in this thread... :yawn:

I know it's been around for awhile, but my 357 sure doesn't run like an antique
If I were in the market right now for a mid-size saw. I'd get a 346xp, or wait for the 562xp.

I'm a Husky fan i'll admit it, the 562xp is much anticipated for sure, but i would have a hard time paying $700 plus for a 60cc saw. Check out the Makita 6401, or Dolmar 6400 offerings or the Husky 365 it may still be available in your market. If the anticipated price for the 562xp is over $700 here in the U.S. what do you think it would cost in Romania? REJ2
